Our Team

John is cofounder of Newton Financial Solutions and is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary^® designee.  While logging more than 16 years of experience, John has become deeply committed to doing what is in the best interest of his clients, helping them to reach what they define as their financial success.  John not only recommends investments, but he also strives to optimize client’s portfolios for tax purposes, estate planning, planning for children’s college, and charitable giving. He is the lead investment researcher for the team and has an extensive history in finding the right investment especially as it relates to risks within a portfolio and goals of the client.

John attended Northwestern University in St. Paul, MN, and worked for Edward Jones for five years before joining his dad in the creation of Newton Financial Solutions, LLC.  John holds FINRA Series 7 securities registration and has been certified as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary^® designee.

Personal
John and his wife, Marci, have a sports enthusiast 13-year-old boy named Michael, a 10-year-old girl who loves to sing named Grace, a 7-year-old boy who loves construction and Nerf guns named Timothy, and two very boisterous dogs named Kirby and Barkley! They have helped raise a foster son who has graduated from high school and gone on to college. They have also hosted two exchange students from Korea and have hosted another child from a family serving in the U.S. military. John has coached soccer for Cambridge Christian School. John and Tim enjoy going to baseball stadiums and recently completed their goal of attending every major league baseball stadium in the country! John is also a blue belt in judo and loves playing the bass guitar. John grew up in Cambridge and resides in the country, just outside of town. In 2017, John traveled to Antarctica on vacation!

Dan joined us in 2013. He came from a management position at Cub Foods, where he worked for 31 years. Dan learned every aspect of that business and worked his way up from stock boy to manager of the store. He understands well how employees and employers have to function in order for a business to succeed. At Newton Financial Solutions, he helps both employers and their employees with 401(k) plans. He also meets with individuals and couples to map a financial plan to guide them to retirement and helps the team with investment decisions. Dan is committed to helping clients create a successful financial plan by offering diverse investment options for every stage of life. He can assist with education and retirement planning, and business planning, especially in the area of business-based retirement plans. Dan brings excellent customer service and a great work ethic to the team.

Dan attended Anoka Ramsey Community College (1984) and St. Cloud State University (1988). Dan currently serves on the Cambridge-Isanti Rotary Club as chairman of the International Committee and treasurer of the club and serves on the council for Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti. Dan holds the FINRA Series 7 securities registration and has successfully completed the Accredited Investment Fiduciary coursework.

Personal
Dan grew up on the family farm east of Isanti, and he enjoys golfing, hunting, curling, and biking. He is married to Kathy and has a daughter and three grandchildren.

Kelly is a Certified Public Accountant; she joined Newton Financial Solutions in 2010 after several years working in the Cambridge community as an independent CPA. She offers experience in tax and accounting services for individuals as well as small businesses. Kelly and her husband, Barry, have four adult children and two grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, camping, and traveling.

Julie joined Newton Financial Solutions in 2010.  Julie has over 18 years of experience working with payroll, accounting, and various tax services.  She enjoys helping clients with their payroll and accounting needs.  She also handles numerous tasks behind the scenes to help our business operation run smoothly. 

Julie's previous work background includes auditing mortgage loans and working with claims and accounting for a commercial insurance business. 

Julie is married to Lance. They have two adult children and four grandchildren.  She enjoys spending time with family the most, but also enjoys camping, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Cindy joined the team in 2014. Before joining Newton Financial Solutions, Cindy was with a local bank for 13 years. She easily transitioned to being responsible for a diverse set of administrative tasks, from the coordination of client events to the processing of account paperwork. Cindy’s positive attitude and welcoming demeanor complement Newton Financial Solution’s strong commitment to client service.

Cindy graduated with a BS in business computer information systems from St. Cloud State University in 1998. She currently serves on the board of Cambridge-Isanti Dollars for Scholars. Cindy has served on the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors and other local committees.

Cindy and her husband, Mike, have two girls; Alayna (13) and Madalyn (10) and live in Stanchfield, MN. When she isn’t busy running her girls to softball or hockey, she enjoys reading, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and playing with their two yellow labs, Yogi and Trooper.
