John Newton, AIF®
Chief Financial Officer
John is a cofounder of Newton Financial Solutions and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®). With more than 18 years of experience, he is deeply committed to acting in his clients’ best interests and helping them define and pursue their own vision of financial success. John takes a comprehensive approach to financial planning—going beyond investment recommendations to help optimize portfolios for tax efficiency, estate planning, education funding, and charitable giving. As the team’s lead investment researcher, he brings extensive experience in evaluating investments and aligning portfolio strategies with each client’s goals and risk tolerance.
Professional
John attended Northwestern University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and began his career with Edward Jones, where he worked for five years before cofounding Newton Financial Solutions with his father. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations and has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation.
Personal
John and his wife, Marci, have three children: Michael, Grace, and Timothy. Their home has also welcomed exchange students from Korea and a child from a U.S. military family. John has coached soccer at Cambridge Christian School and enjoys spending time with his family through shared interests, including traveling—he and his dad, Tim completed a goal of visiting every Major League Baseball stadium together. John also enjoys playing bass guitar, practicing judo, and exploring new places—highlighted by a memorable trip to Antarctica in 2017. He grew up in Cambridge and now lives just outside of town with his family and their two energetic dogs.
