Tim Newton, CFP^®, AIF^®, AAMS^®, CRPC™  

Tim brings more than 20 years of experience and education to helping clients create and live out their financial life plans. Before cofounding Newton Financial Solutions, Tim worked alongside his son, John, as a financial advisor at Edward Jones. During that time, they recognized a shared vision to build a values-driven firm focused on delivering comprehensive, flexible investment and planning solutions tailored to clients at every income level.

Today, Tim works with clients across a wide range of financial planning areas, including investment management, retirement planning, Social Security strategies, tax planning, education funding, charitable giving, and estate planning. He is passionate about improving his clients’ lives by helping them find the right solutions and encouraging them to take an active, lifelong role in their financial journey.

Professional
Tim earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University in 1982. As a financial advisor, he has earned several professional designations, including Asset Management Specialist, Chartered Retirement Plan Consultant, and Accredited Investment Fiduciary. He completed his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) certification in 2008.

Personal
Tim and his wife, Mary Beth, have three children and enjoy spending time with their six grandchildren. They share a love of travel and sailing and are both active as musicians on their church’s worship team. Their passion for music has also led them to take dance lessons over the years. Raised as a pastor’s child, Tim moved frequently throughout Minnesota growing up but has called the Cambridge area home for more than 35 years. He has traveled to all seven continents, including a memorable trip to Antarctica in 2017 with his son, John. At heart, Tim is a teacher who values lifelong learning, with reading and personal growth remaining central to his life.
